Ganong’s Potometer
A potometer is a device used for measuring the rate of water uptake of a leafy plant shoot.The main reason for water uptake by a cut shoot is transpiration (evaporation in plants) and is effected by the transpiration stream.
Ganong’s Potometer
For demonstration of transpiration rates and rate of absorption of water by a cut shoot or small plant.Consists of graduated horizontal glass tube bent down at one to two reservoirs. The near reservoir with stopcock to control flow of water and the reservoirs fitted with a bored rubber stopper to take cut – shoot.Apparatus mounted on a wooden base (By spring clips). Horizontal capillary tube graduated in mms.
