CHLORIDE TEST KIT HI3815

Chloride Test Kit [HI3815]

The HANNA chloride test kit is quick, easy to use and portable. The design makes the kit easy to handle and, except for mercuric nitrate solution, practically prevents accidental injury or damage due to spills. The pH is lowered to approximately 3 by addition of nitric acid. Mercuric ions react with chloride ions to form mercuric chloride; when excess mercuric ions is present, it complexes with diphenylcarbazone to form a purple solution. The color change from yellow to purple determines the end point of this titration.

Chloride Test Kit [HI3815]

Chloride is one of the most common ions present in water. In drinking water, its level must be kept low because it can adversely alter the taste. In other applications, chloride levels must be monitored to prevent scaling and corrosion. In high concentrations, chloride can even corrode stainless steel and is detrimental to vegetation. HANNA® presents a new test kit for chloride analysis. HI 3898 allows the user to determine high concentrations of chloride in wastewater, which can interfere with official COD analysis methods. This test, according to the ISO 15705:2002 method, indicates chloride interference in seconds. The chloride concentration is considered too high if greater than 1000 ppm (for COD test according to ISO directives) or higher than 2000 ppm (for COD test according to the USEPA, APHA, AWWA and WEF methods). If a high concentration of chloride is found, the sample must be diluted.
